we talked about can governor romney put pennsylvania into play. both of these states were out of reach, michigan and pennsylvania heading into the first debate. look where they are now. dead heat statistically in the state of michigan, where romney was born. his dad was governor. in pennsylvania, a close race as well with the president on top. i'm a bit skeptical. i want to see if this happens in a second and third poll but this is very important. states like this suddenly being in play heading into the final couple of weeks because if the president has to start spending time and money defending pennsylvania and defending michigan, that means less time the president is spending in florida, in ohio, in the western battlegrounds. at the moment the map is expanding, finally the romney campaign would say in its favor. >> interesting. john, thanks. >>> let's dig deeper. let's look forward to round three of the debates on tuesday, where the campaign is headed. joined by patrick millsaps, former chief of staff and paul begala. the latest polls came out a

. >> let's talk about next week's presidential debate, mitt romney, president obama. what can we expect in your opinion? >> well, i would be shocked if obama doesn't have a much better night than in the first one. i expect him to be much more aggressive and assertive in explaining and defending his record and his policy for the future and going after romney for what he says are lies or misrepresentations of where he really stands, that he's kind of doing a moderate makeover now that we're three weeks from election. for romney i would think his campaign staff and advisors would say do it again, you know. you were just perfect in the first one. do the same thing. be respectful, but make your case as to why obama does not deserve four more years and why you would take the country in a better direction, basically sell the choice. here's what we have now. here's what i'm offering. >> let's look ahead to fox news sunday. what can we expect? >> we'll have a debate between two top officials, on the 1 hand obama -- one hand obama senior strategist david axelrod, on the other s

that's what paul ryan and mitt romney are talking about. our folks are energized, mobilized, they are knocking on doors and passing out leaflets. >> jared? >> look, ohio is a state where the unemployment rate peaked well above the national level. 11%. where the national peaked at 10. and now it got to the 7s well before the national unemployment level got there. it peaked higher and got lower. and a very clear factor at play here is the rescue of the auto industry. now, a lot of people think of the auto industry as the big plants at the end of the line that build the cars and, of course, that is the end of the line. but what is really going on in ohio are a bunch of small businesses in the auto supply chain and there's been thousands and thousands of good, middle class jobs created in that supply chain that absolutely wouldn't be here absence the president's interventions and people in ohio know that and it's a very important fact that the vice president hit on yesterday and again drew an important distinction with his opponent. >> lee, it'
